I was always very fond of Edgar Alan Poe’s works and he is considered to be the master of Gothic Literature. Majority of his short stories cover dark themes and include supernatural elements. This week I was lucky to read “The Black Cat” by Edgar Allan Poe which once again revolves around the themes of obsession and insanity. It is usually said that the works of Edgar Allan Poe were fuelling the American Romantic Movement at that time. Mystery and macabre played a significant part in majority of his creations.
